Norwich Conservation area
Address: 18 Brock St. W, Norwich, ON N0J1P0, it is about 2 hours or 2.15 hours drive from Toronto. It is a beautiful conservation area/park in Norwich town- such a quiet and small community.
Admission: There is no admission to this place, and the parking is very limited. It could park only a few cars (like 5 or 6). There are also picnic tables near the lake. It is close to the residential area and people who live nearby can just access the place very easily.
The day that I went there was very cold and the ground was icy. If it was in the summer, it will be more beautiful because the lake is right there close to the parking lot. On the day I got there (Feb 12, 2022), it was not crowded at all. I saw only 3 cards parked there and along the trail, I rarely encountered other hikers.
Based on Alltrail App, it says the length of trail is 3.2 km as a loop. But when we kept walking until one point (maybe the end of the trail), it leads us to the road and there is a path back but there was a sign saying Private Property. So, we decided to take the same route back.
I also want to add that this trail is very interesting to explore. It features lakes, trees and forests. The trail was a bit icy and when walking, it took me longer time to complete it. Once in a while, we stopped by the side of the lake and stepped on the frozen water. Even though I saw a few people walking on the frozen lake, I saw some parts were slushy and it might have cracked and we just rushed to return back to the ground.
Also, they have small bridges along the way, and we got more excited to cross the bridge because there was still a small unfrozen stream with flowing water underneath. At one point along our path, we saw a short route to a stream and we just took off our time to get there and that swamp featuring stream area was just so unique and beautiful on its own- it was like in another world with a reflection of the sun ray on ice/white snow.
There were more to explore, so please enjoy our photos below and come to visit it one day!
